8 servings (1/4 cup each)
Ingredients:
2 cups cranberries, fresh or frozen
1 large orange, juice and zest
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
Directions:
Put all the ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
Let boil until berries start to pop (about 5-10 minutes).
Stir as they continue to cook. Let cool, mixture will thicken up.
Suggested Serving: Serve with meat, fish, as a dessert topping or stirred into yogurt. I like my cranberry sauce on the tart side. If you like it sweeter add up to a cup of your favourite sweetener.
Variations:
Cranberry Blueberry Sauce - substitute 1/2 cranberries with blueberries.
This is delicious! It’s a great addition to my fat-free plain Greek yogurt!
