Beef Shawarma (1 point)

Ingredients:

1/4 cup white wine vinegar

1 lemon, zest and juice

3 tsp garlic, minced

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp ground coriander

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp ground cloves

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

1 pound beef eye round, cut thin, against grain, bite size

1/2 onion, sliced


Directions:

In the bottom of a mixing bowl, add the vinegar, lemon zest and juice, garlic and the spices. Mix to combine.

Add the meat and onions. Make sure to mix everything well. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Heat a large sprayed skillet over high heat. Add the meat mixture and fry until meat is fully cooked, about 15 minutes.


Suggested Serving: Serve in pitas with hummus, shredded cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled red onions, yogurt dill sauce and parsley.
